Curious political debate: ‘company car’ is only half a meter long

Date:

The Amstettner FPÖ criticizes the expensive company car of the ÖVP city boss. But such a thing doesn’t exist. The ÖVP now responds with humor – and other discussions are much less fun…

The high spending in Amstetten is one of the biggest criticisms that the PVV accuses the black-green city council of during the election campaign. They describe the multimillion-dollar renovation of the central square as a prestige project, the three mayors would only cost unnecessary money and the company car of ÖVP mayor Christian Haberhauer is just an expensive luxury. “This must end,” demands FPÖ top candidate and member of the state parliament Alexander Schnabel.

Without much outrage
In doing so, Schnabel unintentionally offers a great example for the People’s Party. Because: Haberhauer does not have a company car. “We therefore started looking for the vehicle – and found one,” Deputy Mayor Markus Brandstetter responds humorously. He presented a small Bobby Car. The mayor will probably not travel with him, but Brandstetter considered it necessary not to “always respond to false political messages with great indignation.”

“…then we would abolish proximity to citizens”
But Brandstetter has less fun when it comes to criticizing the three mayors who work for the districts of Mauer-Greinsfurth, Preinsbach and Ulmerfeld-Hausmening-Neufurth. “They are the direct point of contact for the people in the neighborhoods and take the time for even the smallest concerns. If we abolish mayors, we abolish proximity to citizens,” the deputy city boss emphasizes.
