The three Yeltzal councilors have left the party due to “impotence, not to say disgust”, given the EBB’s order not to apply. With the resignation of the head of the list, Edu Barinaga, the group no longer has the opportunity to run for mayor.
The waters are still restless in the jeltzale bank of Labastida, after them three councilors have resignedjust moments after taking office as councillors.
In the constituent session, the mayor jeltzale Amaia Prieto lamented the situation: “Maybe Labastida has become a medium of exchange for municipalities and municipalities. Due to the way the PNV orchestrated the negotiations from the EBB and the complicity of former candidate Eduardo Barinaga, we no longer have room to nominate a candidate. And with that, this candidacy is filled impotence, not to say disgust. We completely distanced ourselves from the party we represented until now. We thank EH Bildu for freely offering their votes to take the mayoralty of Labastida without any conditions”
The People’s Party was the party with the most votes (4 councillors) in the elections on 28 May. EH Bildu (2) planned to vote for the EAJ (3) candidate, and had he presented, EAJ would be the mayor today.
However, the Labastida jeltzale group received an order from the EBB not to submit a mayoral candidate, leading to the resignation of the head of the list, Edu Barinaga, over disagreements. However, this resignation left the municipal group without the opportunity to submit another candidacy.
For example, today the popular Daniel García was elected mayor of the city of Alava.
