In a note, Asier Larrauri acknowledges the facts and apologizes to the Bermeotarras who have placed their trust in EH Bildu and in him. The Political Table of EH Bildu has accepted the resignation.
The recently elected mayor of Bermeo, Asier Larrauri (EH Bildu), presented his dismissal after an accident in the Sollube area and giving positive in the alcohol percentage.
In a note released this afternoon, Larrauri admits he had an accident last morning and “threw a higher alcohol content than legally stated.” In it he assures that he has always believed “that officials should behave in an exemplary manner” and “if that does not happen, they should step aside”. For this reason, he adds, “so as not to tarnish Bermeo’s image or damage the good name of the party” he represents, he has asked the leadership of the EH Bildu coalition to accept his resignation.
In turn, he has apologized to “the Bermeotarras who have placed their trust” in EH Bildu and in him, “because they did not know how to show the exemplary behavior required by the responsibility they gave me”.
Finally, the still-first mayor praised EH Bildu’s “great team” in Bermeo and expressed confidence that “the road they will take in the coming years will be fruitful and wonderful”.
The Sovereignist Coalition has not been slow to respond and has accepted the offer of resignation. In a statement, the political table of EH Bildu informed Bizkaia that it has received the resignation presented by Larrauri this afternoon, adding that “if the Basque sovereign left stands out for anything, it is for its credibility and commitment to its people and Basque citizenship “. “This obliges all its officials to act accordingly, with exemplary and transparent behavior,” he said.
Larrauri was sworn in as mayor yesterday after receiving support from the independent platform Guzan. In the last elections, the PNV got eight representatives, EH Bildu five and the Guzan platform four.
