Werner Kogler: – “Green in the government is good for Austria!”

Date:

In the summer interview on krone.tv with Katia Wagner, the leader of the Greens, Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler makes it clear that he wants to be back in power after the next National Council elections. “It’s good if the Greens are in government!” he says confidently…

And further: “Yes, that is a clear commitment to this power. Because strength comes from doing,” explains Kogler. He emphasizes that turquoise-green “goes beyond the governments before”. He has a constructive, professional relationship with the ÖVP, but he also positively emphasizes the new climate access of the new SPÖ under Andreas Babler, also that Babler demands 100 km/h on the highways.

Sympathy for climate glue
“If we don’t achieve the climate goals in a different way, then we will definitely have to do 100 km/h,” he clearly states. But if he hadn’t become vice-chancellor, he wouldn’t necessarily have nailed it to the street. But: “The climate stickers do a very good job of attracting attention,” says Kogler.

Inheritance tax desired, not required
For Kogler, this government has set something in motion. Pieces like the Energy Efficiency Act failed due to the blockade of the SPÖ. But the federal states should also go along with this, especially when it comes to concreting. An inheritance tax is a great wish for the next negotiations, but he does not want to make it a coalition condition.

FPÖ “would be bad for Austria”
In his view, an FPÖ government would be “bad for Austria”. They have “no answers to the real problems”. The fact that Federal President Van der Bellen would not swear in Herbert Kickl would already be within his sphere of influence. “It’s up to him to give a government-forming mandate,” says Kogler.

What flavor of ice cream would Werner Kogler be?
At the end of the conversation with Katia Wagner, it can also be summery. What flavor would Werner Kogler be if he were an ice cream cone? “Coffee!” he is sure. And the next guest speaker, Beate Meinl-Reisinger (NEOS)? “Lemon!” Not because of the sour component, but because lemon ice cream is “refreshing and enlightening”. Like Beate Meinl-Reisinger.
