The Jelzale candidate for area deputy general has pledged to lead a regional government that promotes a close-knit and supportive society and to count on opposition groups.
Elixabete EtxanobePNV candidate for general deputy of Bizkaia, has chosen to put the Provincial Council “people at the center of all policy”, with the aim employment opportunities as a “great goal”. For all this, he has promised to count on the opposition.
The jeltzale candidate, in her speech at the inauguration plenary, also defended a regional government committed to the development of the area “as egalitarian societywhere all people have the same opportunities and where no one is left behind.
The candidate has also pledged to defend the forality “where it is threatened” and the tax to promote “an attractive Bizkaia for investment” but warned that “competing only by lowering taxes would be a serious mistake” and therefore any reform introduced cannot “jeopardize” a “fair and progressive” system.
Etxanobe is expected to be appointed as general deputy, following the programmatic agreement between the PNV and the PSE-EE, who together have an absolute majority in the General Assemblies. The other candidacy for the inauguration is that of Iker Casanova, presented by E. H. Bildu. The PP group withdrew its proposal.
Casanova stressed that “there is a desire for change” in Bizkaia. Among his proposals he has chosen “major” changes in taxation to be able to have “resources or tools” to support necessary policies, and has warned that it is not possible to “carry out fiscal policies based on the policies of the right”.
EH Bildu’s candidate has also opted to regain Bizkaia’s “industrial identity”. The industry, he stressed, provides higher tax returns and higher quality wages. Likewise, it has underlined the need to foster a technologically advanced and socially responsible industry.
In his speech, Casanova claimed new ways of doing politics, and convened the left parties to decide whether to “build majorities of the left in the service of social policy” or “stop the change in the orbit of the PNV and perhaps also the People’s Party”.
