Supply Contract – Mattle: “The role of the Tiwag is now being redefined”

Date:

After the pleasant development of the electricity price at the Tyrolean state energy supplier Tiwag, Governor Anton Mattle (ÖVP) spoke with AK President Erwin Zangerl and AAB State President Jakob Wolf about further developments. The Chamber of Labor and the AAB had demanded an amendment to Tiwag’s bylaws, and Mattle was happy to oblige.

“I am pleased that my talks have borne fruit and that Tiwag remains one of the cheapest provincial energy suppliers in Austria. We want to safeguard this lowest price as far as possible in the future. That is why I have already commissioned a legal review of the current statutes from Tiroler Wasserkraft AG,” explains Mattle.

Embed the service mandate in the articles of association
It is time “that we redefine the role of the state energy supplier. It is clear to me that we must embed the clear supply mandate for clean, sustainably produced and affordable electricity in the statutes”, the governor sees a great opportunity for Tyrol.

Tiwag needs to be even more firmly anchored in the country
The Articles of Association are a contract of commitments and organization and regulate rights and obligations regarding the internal structure of a public limited company. “My concern is that Tiwag can operate successfully in the very complex energy market, which has been liberalized by the European Union but is still strictly regulated, and ensure supplies to Tyrol. There are many involved employees at all levels of Tiwag who themselves suffer under the tense situation. That is why we are using the crisis situation in the energy market to anchor Tiwag even more firmly in Tyrol,” concludes LH Mattle.
