the term ends at 2 p.m

Date:

The Electoral Council yesterday gave permission for an extension of the period to cast the vote in a post office.

The deadline for delivering the ballot by mail to a post office expires today at 2 p.m., after the Central Elections Office gave permission for an extension yesterday.

According to Correos, the request for this extension is intended to facilitate the management of reissues of election documents, in cases where they first indicated a delivery address and then requested to receive their election documents at a different address.

Similarly, they also reported yesterday that 91% of the 2,622,808 voters who asked to vote by mail (about 2,400,000) had already exercised their right. But another 230,000 citizens who registered to vote by mail had not exercised their right to vote at that point.

Initially, the deadline to deliver the ballot by mail expired at 10 p.m. yesterday, so many offices would remain open to serve voters who chose this modality. Now they all have a few hours left to exercise their right to vote.

In the Basque Autonomous Community, 214,721 people applied for the right to vote by mail, almost four times as many as in the previous elections. For its part, in Navarre, 47,411 applications to vote by mail were accepted, three times as many as in the municipal elections and the municipal elections of 28 million.
