The documents for the controversial villa purchase in Salzburg are complete again and Governor Wilfried Haslauer (ÖVP) now admits errors in the digitization. However, the country has no declaration of confidence for the oligarch construction.
There was a great commotion in Salzburg: a file on the purchase of the fisherman’s house on Lake Fuschlsee could no longer be found in the archives of the state administration because it had been fragmented. The villa is owned by the daughter of Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich.
A request was made to reverse the purchase
The Greens previously suspected a violation of the Real Estate Transactions Act and called for the purchase to be reversed. And that’s what it takes to take action; that’s how the fault was discovered. “The law has now been reconstructed and completed,” Governor Haslauer reported in the Salzburg state parliament on Wednesday. The Fuschl community and advocacy groups were able to help. “It is good that the state governor has taken a stand today and also admitted a clear mistake,” said Simon Heilig-Hofbauer (Greens).
Criminal investigation “Cyprus confidential”
According to Haslauer, there is no evidence of a declaration of trust. This statement would be important for a possible reversal of the deal, because the investigative network ‘Cyprus Confidential’ has shown that the villa with agricultural land came into the possession of the oligarch family through an offshore company and a British trustee.
Costs: eleven million euros
The purchase by the British woman was completed in 2007. Costs: eleven million euros. At that time there was approval from the responsible land transport committee. In 2017, the British woman finally donated the property to Anna Abramowitsch.
Country also wants the declaration of trust
Haslauer and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs 4 would like to be in possession of the declarations of confidence. Inquiries to media and platforms that have the statement have so far been unsuccessful. The country is now considering taking legal action to obtain the document.
