The Table and the Council of Spokespersons have announced that the inauguration session will take place on August 14 and 15, and not this weekend as suggested yesterday by the Speaker of the Parliament of Navarra, Unai Hualde. UPN, PP and Vox have opposed the plenary session being held with less than three days to go.
The full inauguration of the socialist Mary Chivite is finally held next Monday and Tuesday (August 14 and 15). Although the Speaker of the Provincial Parliament, Unai Hualde, had initially proposed that the debate be held this Saturday and Sunday, shortening the deadlines initially planned, UPN, PP and Vox They have demanded that the rules be respected and that the 72-hour period be observed from the moment the candidacy is presented until the debate is held. After analyzing the situation, the Board and the Spokespersons of the Council of States have decided not to shorten the deadlines and that the debate will take place next week.
With EH Bildu’s abstention already confirmed, Chivite will not be elected with an absolute majority on the first ballot (Monday), so she will have to wait until the second ballot (Tuesday afternoon) to be sworn in with a simple majority.
Before knowing the decision on the dates, interviewed on Radio Euskadi, the secretary of the PSN, Ramón Alzórriz, has already raised the possibility that the plenary session will take place next week. “If we have to postpone a day because of the UPN tantrum, we will postpone it,” he said.
