After the embarrassing party congress (keyword counting error) at the beginning of June, things are fermenting within the SPÖ. Time and time again it has been rumored that the two former opponents of the party presidency, Burgenland’s governor Hans Peter Doskosil and Traiskirchen’s mayor Andreas Babler, have anything but a relaxed relationship with each other. Now Baber makes it clear: “We are in regular contact!”
In any case, Babeler will complete his comeback tour in Burgenland together with the mayor of Burgenland. Media reports to the contrary are not correct, Babeler says in an interview with Puls 24 according to the pre-release: “We travel together in Burgenland.”
‘The rumor is completely fictional’
Babler confirmed the good working relationship with Doskozil, who lost to him in the election as chairman at the party congress in Linz. That his comeback tour in Burgenland will take place without his party friend present is, according to Babler, a rumor that is not true: “Not at all.” He has “regular contact” with Doskozil. The rumor was “entirely fictional”.
Babeler fires sharply at the federal government
In the interview, Babler sharply criticizes the federal government for its anti-inflation measures and specifically mentions their food summit in early May: “What did this food summit reveal then? Zero. Nada. Show. Three interviews later, no food has become cheaper.” Babler also accuses the federal government under Karl Nehammer of client politics, which “apparently is not on the side of the many”.
“SPÖ is the party of housing builders”
For Babler, the SPÖ itself is “the party of housebuilders” that “will never allow housebuilders to pay inheritance tax when they pass on a house to the family. These are our generations of employees who really made sure they had every shilling then and every euro later to create value for themselves.”
The detailed interview with Babeler can be seen today, August 10, at 7:55 PM on Puls 24.
