How to request a vote by post for the Basque elections from today

Postal votes for the Basque elections can be requested from today until April 11. The deadline for depositing the vote by post ends on April 17, 2024.

Citizens can now request by post to vote in the Basque regional elections that will be held on Sunday, April 21, 2024, and the deadline for registration is until April 11, as reported by Correos in a press release.

The Basque Parliament was dissolved on Tuesday with the publication in the Official Gazette of the Basque Country (BOPV) of the decree calling for regional elections for April 21, signed by the Lehendakari, Iñigo Urkullu.

Therefore, citizens who wish to do so can now request to vote by post, according to the call published in the Official Gazette of the Basque Country.

Voters who decide to vote by post can request the certificate of their registration in the electoral count of the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country until April 11.

As reported by Correos, citizens who choose to vote by post must apply for the certificate of registration in the electoral census of the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country, an essential requirement to exercise this right.

The certificate can be requested electronically via the website www.correos.es or in person at any post office in Spain.

Voters can request their vote via the Correos website without having to go to a post office in person, and interested parties must prove their identity through authentication and electronic signature.

The Euskadi Electronic Identification System (BakQ) (through the use of the virtual card), the natural person certificates recognized by the Ministry of Industry in its list of qualified providers of trusted electronic services and the electronic DNI will be accepted as valid. DNI-e).

Applications for postal voting can also be made at all post offices in Spain and must be submitted in person, except in the case of illness or disability recognized by an official medical certification. In these cases they can be presented by another notarial or consular authorized person.

To speed up procedures and avoid waiting, Correos offers the option of making an appointment to request a ballot in offices via the application, the website or the virtual office.

Correos will hand over the applications received to the provincial delegations of the Electoral Census Office in the Basque Country, who will send applicants the necessary documentation from April 1, 2024 to allow them to vote by post.

Finally, he reminded those wishing to vote by post that they will receive this documentation at the address they provided in the application, and that it does not have to coincide with their usual address. The deadline for depositing the vote by post ends on April 17, 2024.
