The path leads to Riga – Una (40) revealed as Strache’s Ibiza decoy

Date:

As a “shy Russian” (according to then FPÖ leader Strache), she made headlines around the world as the bait as the niece of the oligarch in the Ibiza video. It was previously unknown who had taken over this role: now 40-year-old Una from Latvia has been revealed as the Ibiza detective’s accomplice.

She was tracked down in Riga by the dazzling research platform ‘EU-Infothek’ after the news magazine ‘profil’ recently claimed to have found her there.

Investigations continue
There was once an international search for Una S., but now the Viennese public prosecutor’s office is ‘only’ investigating her for criminal offenses (sentence of less than one year) such as forging documents or illegal sound recordings.

The recordings are world famous: they were secretly made in the summer of 2017 in a finca on the Mediterranean island of Ibiza. The meeting was arranged by private investigator Julian Hessenthaler, but the alleged oligarch’s niece played the leading role – and played it perfectly. Unsuspectingly, Heinz-Christian Strache and Johann Gudenus laid out their plans on how to obtain illegal party donations and shake things up in Austria once they were in power – including taking over the “Kronen Zeitung”.

The Ibiza video appeared in May 2019, the rest is history. Four years, a dismantled government and countless lines of investigation later, the consequences of the coup continue to worry the republic.

“Ibiza Detective” is bankrupt
The ‘Ibiza detective’ was later convicted in Austria of drug possession and has been making public appearances since this spring and talking openly about the infamous video and its background. On Wednesday it was announced that Hessenthaler is bankrupt. His time in prison prevented him from repaying his debts.
