The German Sebastian Vettelfour-time Formula One world champion, has not ruled out a return to the Great Circus next season, after retiring last year in an interview with Sky Sports.
Vettel, now 36, is six years younger than the oldest driver on the grid, Fernando Alonso, who returned to competition after several years of retirement from the ‘Circus’ to compete at that time in the Indianapolis 500, the World Endurance Championship, along with the 24 Hours of Le Mans, or the Dakar Rally.
Asked on Sky Sports about a possible return to competition, as Nigel Mansell, Alonso himself and Kimi Raikkonen have already done, Sebastian Vettel He said he couldn’t deny anything, because he didn’t know what would happen.
“I think if you asked everyone, some would tell you they won’t come back, but in the end they came back, so I can’t avoid it,” added the German, who has won his four World Cups with the Red Bull team.
Vettel He admitted that to convince him to return to competition he needed to have a good “challenge” ahead of him, after his two years at Aston Martin he was a long way from competing for victories or podiums. In fact, his last victory started in Singapore 2019 on his Ferrari stage and the last podium, a second, from Baku 2021, was the only one he scored with Aston Martin.
