After corona infection – Minister Totschnig will be sworn in tomorrow

Date:

Due to a corona infection, the new Minister of Agriculture Norbert Totschnig (ÖVP) could not be sworn in last week like the new members of the government by Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen. But as is known, the postponement will not be lifted and the government has now announced that there is now an alternative date.

According to his spokeswoman, Totschnig was still positive on Monday. Meanwhile, the 47-year-old should be negative. According to the cabinet of the president, he is expected in the Hofburg on Wednesday at 9 a.m. Then Totschnig takes over the agenda from Elisabeth Köstinger, who had to wait a few days because she was not sworn in, as Federal Minister of Agriculture, Regions and Tourism.

This means that the presentation in the National Council is almost over. Chancellor Karl Nehammer (ÖVP) and Vice-Chancellor Werner Kogler (Greens) will make statements about the reshuffle of the government and introduce the new ministers and secretaries of state to parliamentarians in the parliamentary meeting that will take place immediately afterwards.
