Carinthia Unofficial – Climate Change: Some hack, others donate

Date:

One question: Have you already put away your swimsuits or are you still hoping for a few summer days? Anyway, it’s autumn – at least in politics: whatever color, the parties are slowly starting with their autumn topics. What concerns them all in one way or another: climate change.

The ÖVP state parliament club will start its autumn political work with an autumn meeting next week. Quite a lot of autumn – also for the FPÖ, which has not only completed the extended summer holidays (during which the state parliament club was renovated), but also the corresponding exam.

The demands: an offensive on housing ownership – secretary general Josef Ofner demands bonuses and credits for house builders and renovators – as well as a healthcare initiative: deputy club president. Gernot Darmann wants a care voucher of 1,000 euros per month and the resignation of SP health council member Beate Prettner, who is working “against all reason” to “further restrict mobile care”.

“Stick to the tools instead of the road”
Protecting the forest, “the most important CO2 storage and our green lung”, is the top priority of FP boss Erwin Angerer. According to the politician, this is a social task for which forest owners must be compensated, the forest inspection staff must be expanded and the forest fund of the Ministry of Agriculture must be replenished.

He has his own message for “young people” and especially “climate glue” and unpacks a cultural tool: “If they would stick to this tool and plant plants, they would have really done something useful. You can’t lose the tool if you hold on to it and you won’t bother anyone.” But Angerer is also not a real fan of peaceful protests such as those of the ‘Fridays for Future’ activists. the demo on Friday in Klagenfurt.

This has drawn criticism from the Greens: “The fact that the FPÖ does not come up with solutions at all and that nothing at all can be expected from them in the spirit of climate change is nothing new. But it shows once again that the FPÖ is playing with our future for populist reasons. That screams to the heavens!”, party leader Olga Voglauer says angrily.

Another question: Have you already received your climate bonus? Depending on where your main residence is, this is between 150 (Klagenfurt) and 220 euros (for example Metnitz). “Too much for everyone who already has enough,” says SP state manager Andreas Sucher, who is donating his amount to Volkshilfe Kärnten’s flood relief and calling on his colleagues to take part in the campaign.

One last question: what are your thoughts on climate change: get involved and get involved – or donate a climate bonus? Join the discussion in the comments!
