Both held a meeting of about two and a half hours at the Belgian residence of the former president and were accompanied by Joseba Aurrekoetxea (PNV) and Jordi Turull (JxCat).
The chairman of the PNV, Andoni Ortuzarand the leader of JxCat and former president of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Carlos Puigdemontmet today in Belgium to “strengthen relations” and tackle the investiture negotiations, “taking into account that both parties played a key role after the 23rd elections.”
The meeting, which represents the first official contact between Ortuzar and Puigdemont, took place in Waterloo, at the former Catalan president’s residence in Belgium, and Joseba Aurrekoetxea (PNV) and Jordi Turull (JxCat) also participated.
As the PNV explains in a note, the meeting was “very cordial and useful” to “intensify and optimize relations between both parties and between Euskadi and Catalonia.”
“On the other hand, we have also logically spent a large part of our time sharing our analysis of the current political situation, taking into account that both parties have played a key role in the elections of June 23. with a view to a possible investiture. In short, we had an interesting exchange of views on the negotiations that have not yet started,” the Jeltzale formation concluded.
