FPÖ leader Herbert Kickl has rejected the Puls 24 Citizens’ Forum. The party justified this by saying that people prefer to participate in real pub conversations. The channel then announced on Thursday that an “exciting replacement program” would be broadcast instead.
Details to follow. To date, only one episode of the Citizens’ Forum has taken place. SPÖ leader Andreas Babler had to answer questions from a not particularly friendly regular table in the “Kolariks Luftburg” restaurant. An average of 50,000 people watched the show. NEOS boss Beate Meinl-Reisinger will be a guest in episode two next Tuesday.
Hafenecker: “Left sender”
FPÖ leader Kickl would have been third in line. Liberal media spokesman Christian Hafenecker justified the cancellation by saying it was an artificial-looking tavern atmosphere with “cast” guests. For Hafenecker, Puls 24 is also a ‘left-wing channel’ that has repeatedly fought against the content and positions of the FPÖ in the past. Conversely, the team does not accept every invitation from the party for a press conference.
