EH Bildu’s spokesperson in Congress, Mertxe Aizpurua, believes that the negotiations on the inauguration of the PSOE candidate Pedro Sánchezcan be ‘fast’ because ‘we’re not starting from scratch’.
Interviewed in the Euskadi Irratia program ‘Faktoria’, she explained that they have laid “the first foundations” with the Socialists, but she made it clear that no documents have been exchanged at the moment. Aizpurua has indicated that contacts have been “permanent”, including for the composition of the Council of the Congress of Deputies, but that formal negotiations on the investiture have not yet begun.
As for the debate about investiture of the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóothe representative of EH Bildu emphasized that she saw the PP candidate for the presidency of the Spanish government “anchored in the past”. “I see that Feijóo and the PP are fully aligned with the far right,” he added.
Aizpurua described yesterday’s plenary as “quite violent”. Despite admitting that Feijóo included a “point of irony” in his speech, EH Bildu spokesperson denounced it as “a curtain to hide personal attacks”. “He showed a low level,” he added.
Similarly, Aizpurua has criticized the fact that the PP candidate “between jokes and jokes” filled his speech with “aggressions, insults and outright lies”, which he finds “unacceptable”. In that sense, he has trusted that he will pay for it one way or another.
On the other hand, the representative of EH Bildu believes that the next legislative period should be used to open the door national debate at the state level. For example, he pointed out that the territorial issue must be addressed and that “the PSOE is aware of this”. However, he has warned that steps must be taken “little by little” because “it is a complex issue, with many sides.”
Moreover, Aizpurua has emphasized the need to do “a lot of democratic pedagogy” in the Spanish state right to decide, which has been an “abomination” until now. For this reason, he has made it clear that “it is not a mistake” for the Catalan independence forces to raise the issue of the referendum during the investiture negotiations: “not at all”.
Finally, he asked for “prudence and responsibility” from the PSOE, ERC, Junts and also from EH Bildu, because “there has never been a context like this, with a door that opens wide for us.”
