PNV and PSE-EE ratify this Monday the provisional agreement for the formation of the Basque coalition government

Both sides continue to negotiate the government program, which will be signed in the Basque Parliament on Wednesday the 19th, although its content will certainly not be revealed. This program is reserved for Pradales’ speech at the plenary session of the investiture the following day.

For their part, the Basque socialists will approve the agreement through the voice of its militantswho can vote in person at the ballot box at the PSE-EE headquarters.

After this preliminary agreement of basic, quite general, the two parties They continue to negotiate the government programwhich will be much more extensive (approximately one hundred pages compared to the 11 in the preliminary agreement) and more concrete, and the composition and distribution of portfolios within the Board.

That government program will be signed on Wednesday the 19th in the Basque Parliament by the top officials of the two parties, Andoni Ortuzar And Eneko Anduezain the presence of the lehendakari candidate, Imanol Pradalesalthough its contents will certainly not be revealed, which is reserved for Pradales’ speech at the plenary session of the investiture the following day.

As for the composition of the next Executive, it will only be officially announced after Pradales is sworn in as lehendakari in the government. Gernika Meeting House (Bizkaia) on Saturday June 22.

That is certainly in that cabinet the PSE-EE will have a greater weight than the current onewhich has eight nationalist and three socialist council members, after improving by two seats in the April 21 elections (from 10 to 12), while the PNV lost four (from 31 to 27).

The formula would be 9 nationalist and 4 socialist councilors and the two new portfolios would be created by separating the powers of the Arantxa Tapia department, which includes areas such as industry, energy, technology, agriculture and the environment; and that of Equality, Justice and Social Policy, currently led by Nerea Melgosa.

In principle, each party intends to maintain the key areas it has managed so far, such as housing, transport, employment, and tourism and trade in the socialist case; and education, healthcare, security, finance, culture, economic development and justice by the nationalists.

As for the “names”, an almost total renewal in the PNV portfolios is expected after the replacement of Lehendakari Iñigo Urkullu, without the identity of the possible candidates having been revealed.
