When Austria talks about burgers, a visit from the Taliban or normality, it is clear: an election campaign is just around the corner! Will next year be particularly brutal? Katia Wagner will discuss this with her guests on krone.tv on Wednesday at 8:15 PM!
The past few weeks have been tough. This election campaign started with a debate about what is normal these days. In a video that the Chancellor posted on his Instagram channel, he asks his followers: “Are you still normal?”
The summer political crisis was canceled
The reactions did not take long in coming. Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler called the discussion “pre-fascist” – unusually clear words aimed at the coalition partner. Nehammer was not deterred by this and continued. There can be no question of a summer dip this year.
ÖVP: Burger Gate caused a stir
Then came the next election campaign bombshell last week: a video that surfaced shows the Chancellor at an internal ÖVP event. That wouldn’t be worth a scandal, but in it he clearly criticizes women who work part-time and questions families who cannot afford a hot meal for their children. The statements were met with harsh criticism. Waves also rose among the population.
FPÖ: Kickl distances himself from Taliban trip and “political retirees”
In the meantime, the FPÖ could breathe a sigh of relief. The visit of their former EU parliament member Andreas Mölzer to the Taliban was pushed into the background. But here too, observers wondered: what is a previously high-ranking Blue politician doing in a radical Islamic terrorist organization? Even FPÖ leader Herbert Kickl distanced himself. To him, Mölzer was a ‘political pensioner’ and the visit was ‘incredibly stupid’.
SPÖ: Leaked paper causes shame
And then there was the SORA paper that was accidentally leaked to the SPÖ. A misguided strategic plan explains how they want to get the Reds to first place. The article, full of errors, reveals possible considerations in the election campaign. The fact that SORA was also responsible for the projections for the ORF for a long time did not make it difficult.
What kind of election campaign awaits us?
