After Chancellor Karl Nehammer (ÖVP) received sharp criticism for his statements in a video, he is now trying to engage with critics, those affected and those who work with those affected.
On Thursday, October 12, he invites you to the discussion event “Ask the Chancellor”. In the video, for example, he questioned the fact that children in Austria do not receive a hot meal due to poverty and called a McDonald’s burger cheap food. He also said that part-time women who don’t have enough money should simply work more.
Organizations invited
Nehammer has the Labor Market Service, the Chamber of Labour, the Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber of Agriculture, the Red Cross, the Samaritan Association, Licht ins Dunkel, the Catholic Women’s Movement, Caritas, Diakonie, the SOMA Social Markets, the St. Elisabeth Foundation and the Austrian Working Group for Youth Welfare each invited four people to nominate for the personal exchange.
Heuriger instead of Macci
The Chancellor still stands by his statements, according to a press release on Sunday. The event will take place on Thursday, October 12 at 4 p.m. in the Heuriger Wolff restaurant in Vienna-Döbling and last 90 minutes.
