Thousands of people will take part this Sunday in central Barcelona in a demonstration organized by Catalan civil society against the amnesty for those involved in the 2017 sovereignty process in the context of the inauguration of Pedro Sánchez, a protest that supports has of the top leaders of the PP, Vox and Ciudadanos.

These leaders included the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo; the President of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso; Andalusian President Juanma Moreno; that of Murcia, Fernando López Miras; that of Aragon, Jorge Azcón; the mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez Almeida; the president of the PPC, Alejandro Fernández; the leader of Vox, Santiago Abascal; the general secretary of Ciudadanos, Adrián Vázquez, and the leader of Cs in Catalonia, Carlos Carrizosa.

The march, with a large presence of Spanish flags and some Catalan and European flags, started around 12 noon at the confluence of Paseo de Gràcia with Provença Street and has the motto “Not in my name. Not in my name: neither amnesty nor self-determination”, although the most chanted slogan has been “Puigdemont to prison”. Cs has handed out flags with the Spanish and the Catalan on either side.

The chairman of Catalan Civil Society (SCC), Elda Mataon Sunday described this as an “unconstitutional anomaly” the granting of possible amnesty by a possible PSOE and Sumar government “in exchange for political favors”.

The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijooarrived this Sunday at the SCC demonstration in Barcelona against the amnesty and criticized the absence of the PSOE: “What is missing is the Socialist Party, which does business, and the business is the presidency of the government, after losing, because seven pro -independence votes”.

In statements before starting the march, he said the event brings together people with different opinions, but they agree to “say yes to the freedom of citizens, yes to the given word, yes to politics with principles, yes to the Constitution, yes to the Statute and yes to all Catalans abandoned by the Socialist Party.”

In this sense, the President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Diaz Ayusohas blamed Sánchez for being able to make a deal with independents to come to power: “With seven votes, no one can change the fate of a nation.”

The leader of Vox, Santiago Abascaldescribed this Sunday as an “attack on the Constitution” and on “honest people” by granting a possible amnesty.

In a media address before the demonstration, Abascal stressed that it was “essential to return to Barcelona today to support all the Catalans who are suffering and the Spaniards who are concerned about what is happening.”

The massive march, which is expected to end around 2 p.m. at the confluence of Paseo de Gràcia and Gran Vía, takes place after the mobilization called by the PP that brought together several thousand demonstrators in Madrid on September 24.
