The Basque Government has been invited to the G-NETS Leaders Summit to be held in Tokyo Bay in May 2024, where the first high-level meeting bringing together leaders from the main metropolises and cities of the world took place last February.
This morning, Lehendakari Urkullu met with the Governor of Metropolitan Tokyo, Yuriko Koike, a Japanese metropolis leading the G-NETS network, and offered Koike the opportunity for Euskadi to host one of the summits to be held soon .
The network was founded in 2022 and aims to be a forum in which cities around the world debate and share knowledge and experiences to find solutions to common challenges, with the ultimate goal of making sustainable societies a reality.
In addition to Tokyo, cities such as London, Paris, Rome and New York are integrated into it.
