Chancellor Karl Nehammer (ÖVP) and Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler (Greens) convened the federal government’s crisis cabinet at 8 a.m. on Friday due to the current situation in the Middle East. The government announced this on Thursday afternoon. Topics include the current situation, Hamas’s terrorist attack on Israel and the resulting consequences, including the security situation in Austria.
Current security situation
On the part of the federal government, Ministers of the Interior Gerhard Karner and Minister of Defense Klaudia Tanner and Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexander Schallenberg will participate (all ÖVP).
The heads of the intelligence services will inform the federal government about the current situation in the situation center of the Ministry of Defense. The crisis cabinet should also discuss the current security situation in Austria.
