Eight CGPJ judges call for an extraordinary plenary hearing to reject the amnesty law

Date:

Eight members have been appointed at the proposal of the PP, showing their “consolation” about what the amnesty law will mean, a “degradation” for the rule of law in Spain.

Eight members of the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) have demanded President Vicente Guilarte hold an extraordinary plenary session to demonstrate the rejection of the governing body of the judges to the amnesty law .

The requesting directors are Carmen Llombart, José Antonio Ballestero, Francisco Gerardo Martínez-Tristán, Juan Manuel Fernández, Juan Martínez Moya, José María Macías, Nuria Díaz Abad and María Ángeles Carmona, appointed on the proposal of the Popular Party.

“The General Council for the Judiciary speaks with this statement his intense concern and desolation Therefore, this measure represents a violation, if not abolition, of the rule of law in Spain, which from the moment it is adopted will become only a formal proclamation that will inevitably have consequences at the expense of Spain’s real interests. ” is the text of the statement.

In the letter they emphasize that the CGPJ ‘observes’ with growing concern the statements of members of some minority political parties, some with government responsibilities, on the possible amnesty for crimes committed on the occasion of the events that took place on October 1, 2017.
