The PSOE denies that the pact with the PNV includes the transfer of social security to the CAV

Date:

The acting Finance Minister, María Jesús Montero, has stressed that “nothing was mentioned” on this issue in the agreement signed with the Basque nationalists for Sánchez’s investiture.

Just a few hours after the chairman of the EBB of the PNV Andoni Ortuzar confirmed that the management of the social security economic regime will be transferred to the CAV, the PSOE has denied this issue and stated that “it is not singularized” in the text agreed between both formations before the UN investiture of Pedro Sánchez.

In an appearance before the media, the Deputy Secretary General of the PSOE and Acting Minister of Finance of the Spanish Government Mary Jesus Montero, has denied that the agreement signed with the Jeltzale group includes the transfer of social security. “In the agreement signed with the PNV this morning, nothing specific is mentioned about social security,” he said.

‘In fact, this issue was handled in exactly the same way as in the classic agreements with the PNV: the government, of course [de España] “We must work to develop the Statute of Gernika, a law that binds all governments, and under it some powers that have not yet been developed,” he added.

Montero has indicated that the agreement with the PNV expressly mentions “some unique powers” pending transfer for which a shorter period applies, but he has emphasized that social security “is not covered by it”, and therefore he assures that “there no news” about it.

On the other hand, the acting minister has denied that the pact signed with Junts provides for the ceding of all taxes to Catalonia, as she claims that this is something that “was never considered”.

And he stressed that after the agreements signed on Friday with the PNV and the Canary Coalition, which join the support of Sumar, EH Bildu, ERC, Junts and BNG, “the legislative power of President Pedro Sánchez is guaranteed” because “ 179 deputies will choose that Spain will have a government of progress.”
