First posters hang – Innsbruck election campaign: Nothing with “clear and short”

Date:

Even though (almost) all Innsbruck parties assured in advance that they did not want to put too much pressure on the voters, the case is again the opposite. But we already knew that from before…

It must be clear and short: the vote-getter for the elections in Innsbruck, which will take place on April 14 (!) next year. Reason: No one in the population wants a long election campaign. At least that was what the politicians announced weeks ago. Of course, things turned out very differently (almost as expected).

Mayor Willi started it weeks ago
This time the Greens, who otherwise like to act as moralizers and the highest authority when it comes to denouncing the misdeeds of other parties, started the “short and sweet election campaign”. The city boss himself, Mayor Georg Willi, could hardly wait and weeks ago started positioning Citylights in the state capital with his image and the highly intellectual word play “DEM WILLI WILL I”.

In fairness, it should be emphasized that another politician had been in campaign mode for a long time, perhaps without even knowing it. Namely Deputy Mayor Johannes Anzengruber, who at the time still belonged to the ÖVP and diligently handed out election gifts, i.e. experience vouchers, which according to his own words no longer have any value

Vice Lassenberger also laughs in the area
The consequences were foreseeable. Logically, the other deputy, Markus Lassenberger of the FPÖ, was also at a loss. He also laughs in many places when he says: “Innsbruck needs a new, reliable mayor.” That in this maelstrom of the Innsbruck City Council’s quest for greater proximity to voters (a feature that occurs every four, five, six years, depending on the length of the period), one or two one-man shows are in order and in The game the next mayor tried to play is all too understandable and only adds a sweet note to this “short and sweet” election campaign.

O-Dorf and Reichenau firmly in the hands of blue voters in 2018
It is appropriate, but probably quite unusual, for the leader of one party to give another well-intentioned advice on what to do to have a successful election campaign. First of all: the Tyrolean FPÖ leader Markus Abwerzger obviously did not mean that when he recently addressed ÖVP State Secretary Florian Tursky in the “Krone” about the elections in Innsbruck and said that he looked at himself as if Tursky also had the horsepower on the road. In any case, it will not be enough to “be celebrated by your own officials”, but it will depend on whether Tursky also makes home visits to the districts in O-Dorf or Reichenau, as “our Markus Lassenberger has done”. for years”. By the way, O-Dorf and Reichenau were firmly in the hands of blue voters in the 2018 elections.

Tursky goes to “Den of the Blue Lion”
It cannot be ruled out that Abwerzger’s statements also brought the election strategists of the Innsbruck People’s Party onto the scene. Sorry: the ÖVP in Innsbruck now runs under the name “The New Innsbruck”. The fact is that Florian Tursky will enter the ‘den of the blue lion’ on Wednesday evening and will launch his election campaign in the multi-purpose hall of the Olympic Village under the motto ‘moving Innsbruck forward together again’. Speaking of arguing: this subject will certainly be discussed in sufficient detail in the ‘clear and short election campaign’ that the residents of Innsbruck have in store for the next four and a half months.
