Criticism of the federal government – hackers: Vienna’s special path “purely a matter of content”

Date:

Viennese city councilor for health Peter Hacker (SPÖ) defended the federal capital’s special path on Wednesday in the Ö1 “Morgenjournal”, where the mask requirement will continue to apply on public transport from June. He criticized the federal government for lacking continuity: The scheme was originally supposed to last until July 8, Hacker said.

But, according to Hacker, “you barely turn your back and there’s another decision – honestly I can’t understand that”. That Vienna always goes its own way is a “purely substantive question” and not political, assured hackers. That the pandemic is over is the wrong message. He also doesn’t understand why schools are stopping PCR testing, according to the health councilor.

Criticism of Health Minister Rauch
The SPÖ city council was surprised by the federal government’s decision that the mask requirement was also suspended in public transport. It is “something amazing in this country that it is not and is not possible to pick up the phone and talk to each other”, he criticized Health Minister Johannes Rauch (Greens).

Suspension of mandatory vaccination “in principle” wrong
Hacker also thinks further suspending mandatory vaccination is “fundamentally” a mistake, because if you’ve already decided to do it, you should go ahead with it, everything else is “illogical”. Christiane Druml, chair of the bioethics committee, spoke again in the “Tomorrow Journal” for mandatory vaccination in certain areas, such as for health professionals and for people over 60 years of age.
