The visit of an FPÖ delegation to a Republican gala in New York caused a stir. In the middle of it all was Salzburg’s FPÖ leader Marlene Svazek, who spent the second weekend of Advent in the Big Apple, listening to the words of Donald Trump and mingling with ultra-right politicians from the US and Europe.
A fundraising gala in New York sparks debate in Austria. The American ultra-right topped the invitation list. FPÖ politicians and members of the German AFD were also represented, the “Krone” reported. In the middle: Marlene Svazek. The star of the gala was former President Donald Trump. New York’s Young Republicans also organized the evening in his honor.
Press spokesperson: “Not interested” in commenting
When asked whether Salzburg’s FPÖ leader and Haslauer’s deputy attended the gala for private or professional reasons, Svazek and her press spokesperson remained silent. They have “no interest” in commenting. The gala visit was announced by German influencer Jeremy Fragrance. But he has now deleted the photo together.
Traveling to New York is apparently a tradition for the FPÖ. EU parliamentarians Harald Vilimsky, Svazek and colleagues celebrated the 2016 US election night at Trump Tower. However, they did not meet election winner Trump at that time.
