The mayor of Pamplona has cracked down on the Socialists and believes the censure motion is “the payment of the PSOE’s revolutionary tax to Bildu.”
The mayor of Pamplona, Cristina Ibarrola, has pointed out that today is a “sad day, not only for the city, but for the whole country”, and has stated that, with the presentation of a motion of censure that will give the mayorship to EH Bildu, the “PSN is miserably sold out” this city.
“Pamplona is the payment of the revolutionary tax of the PSN to EH Bildu,” Ibarrola said at a press conference, who, accompanied by her municipal group, assured that they would leave with their heads held high and a very clear conscience.
Ibarrola has denounced the Socialist party’s award of the mayoralty of Pamplona to a party that does not condemn the ETA killings. With a sadder face than usual, has harshly attacked the socialistsand addressed Socialist leaders María Chivite, Ramón Alzórriz, Santos Cerdán, Elma Saiz and Pedro Sánchez, encouraging them to “take to the streets of Pamplona and speak to the citizens face to face.”
Likewise, he has accused them of selling Pamplona to maintain their positions, thereby “handing over the Pamplona City Council to those who do not condemn ETA’s murders today,” Ibarrola said.
He says that with the mayoralty of EH Bildu, imposition and sectarianism will come to Pamplona and although he has not called for mobilizations, he has called on the city’s citizens to take to the streets to express what they think about the censure motion.
With the motion of censure Cristina Ibarrola’s short career as mayor ends. As soon as she was sworn in as mayor on June 17, she had to answer questions about a possible motion of censure. His answer has always been the same: that there were no reasons to justify a motion of censure and that he was only thinking about working for the city.
However, during this time, Ibarrola has been unable to reach an agreement with the opposition, preventing her from carrying out any major project with only nine councilors.
