The Spanish government will officially register it today in the Register of Local Entities. After PNV and PSOE agreed to amend the law on local organizations, the Public Prosecution Service refused to continue with the appeal filed.
Today Use alone officially becomes the place number 113 in Bizkaia. The historic demand for dissolution will come into effect today, completing the process of official secession from Galdakao.
The Spanish government will officially register Usansolo as a place in the register of local entities, after PNV and PSOE agreed to amend the law on local entities.
In particular, both sides agreed that amend the law for Lower the population limit from 5,000 to 4,000 for the segregation of a municipality. That was precisely the historical obstacle that Usasnsolo encountered in the dissolution, a law on which the Public Prosecutor’s Office relied to file its appeal, after the Provincial Council of Bizkaia approved the secession.
Last week the Council of Ministers approved by Royal Decree the amendment to the Law on Local Entities, and although it still needs to receive approval in Congress, the Public Prosecutor’s Office has already announced that it will not pursue the appeal.
The first municipal elections will be held in Usansolo in 2027. Meanwhile, the Usansolo Management Committee will take charge of the municipal council. This committee consists of 11 members: eight members from Usansolo Herria Elkartea, two from EAJ-PNV and one member from EH Bildu. Juan Agustín Aizpuru Izagirre (UH) will become chairman of the management committee.
This committee submitted the registration request last Friday, December 22, and today, the 28th, the government will take the final step towards dissolution.
The first of the committee’s tasks between now and the elections is to organize the celebration which will take place this afternoon at 7pm. Next comes the completion of the census, account management and many other matters.
