“Didn’t notice anything” – Alkolenker drove with a malfunction and then fell asleep

Date:

Strange end to a late Christmas party: In Kirchberg-Thening, Upper Austria, a 68-year-old drove his car off the road, continued driving despite a flat rear tire and fell asleep in a parking lot a short time later. The reason: the man had 1.6 per mille.

The 68-year-old from Kirchberg-Thening was driving a small van – a commercial vehicle – shortly before 11 p.m. on Wednesday in his hometown on the Randlstraße ring road in the direction of Traun. At the entrance to the B139 he entered the bend in the road, seriously damaging two signposts and causing minor damage to the site.

Rear tire was flat
His vehicle deteriorated, but the man continued his journey despite a flat rear tire – five miles to be exact. Other drivers reported to the police that they had found a car in a parking lot shortly after 11 p.m. in which a man was probably sleeping. Police woke the man up and questioned him about the accident.

Just a “messer”
When asked about the case, the 68-year-old stated he was driving home after a late Christmas party, police said in a news release. He did notice that he had left the road, that there was a “rumbling” sound and that the vehicle then became more difficult to drive. However, he did not notice any damage to the road facilities or the flat tire.

The driver’s license is gone
An alcohol test on the man was positive: 1.6 per mille. His driver’s license was temporarily confiscated. Continuing the journey was prohibited due to both the alcohol consumption and the serious damage to the rear tire. Follow ads.
