The coalition’s program director was the only candidate, and after receiving the support of the armed forces, the internal process that began on November 11 was concluded.
The program director of EH Bildu, Pello Otxandiano, is now officially a candidate for lehendakari for the sovereigntist party in the elections to the Basque Parliament, after his candidacy was endorsed by 94% of the party assembly, which meets on Saturday in Bizkaia Aretoa, in Bilbao.
This step puts an end to a process that started on November 11, when the Political Table of EH Bildu proposed Otxandiano as a candidate for the Lehendakaritza.
Last Tuesday, the phase of the internal election process for submitting candidacies was closed, and without alternative candidates having presented themselves, Otxandiano, pending his official proclamation, became the candidate for the presidency of the Basque government of the sovereigntist formation.
Otxandiano, 40 years old and from Otxandio (Bizkaia), has an important political background within EH Bildu and has been program director until now. He has a doctorate in telecommunications engineering and is considered one of the ideologues of the training led by Arnaldo Otegi.
