It has also been a meeting with an event format, as Udalbiltza turns 25 this year.

The municipalities of Dima, Berrobi, Larraun, Izurtza, Markina-Xemein, Mendaro and Plentzia are already members of Udalbiltza and, with this one seven new members there are now 84 cities that are part of the consortium of municipalities of the Basque Country.

Udalbiltza celebrated the first this Saturday in Bergara General Council of the year, where the accession of new members has been approved. It has also been announced that more municipalities want to join the consortium in the coming months.

The meeting took place today in a different format. in the form of an event, ever since Udalbiltza turns 25 this year and they wanted to celebrate in this way with an event in which they not only recognized Udalbiltza’s contribution to nation building, but also wanted to highlight the challenges that the consortium will face in the future, including by supporting innovative projects launched by the municipalities, and setting up on a national scale the projects that are successful at local level and that can be useful for all municipalities.

As explained by the chairman of the consortium Haritz Alberdi Arrillaga, In addition to promoting the projects currently underway, Udalbiltza’s intention is to launch new initiatives: “We believe that we must continue to work hard for the independence of our people. We must continue to build a nation. And we are clear that this is a work that is carried out every day, through the specific projects being worked on in each municipality.” Therefore, the task of the consortium, in Alberdi’s words, will be “to bring together these innovative projects and experiences and to encourage and promote them, in addition to helping to overcome legal and technical obstacles that may arise.”

In line with the aforementioned anniversary, they have given a twist to the company image, the logo of which they presented today. In the words of Clara Rouget, director of Udalbiltza, “while adjusting the structure and functioning of the entity, it was necessary to make changes in the corporate image so that the image reflects the internal changes.” Rouget explained that, without forgetting the shield logo that has been the image of Udalbiltza until now, the letter ‘U’ of Udalbiltza itself has taken the shape of a shield, “an open shield, indicating that this is an entity with open shield’. hands to work together with the municipal authorities, a close-knit whole, and that it is of course a house that, after years of gathering knowledge, remains open and is prepared to continue to receive and grow.

In the same way, those who currently have “the honor and responsibility” of leading the entity wanted to thank all the people who have accompanied Udalbiltza during these 25 years: “We cannot forget all the people who worked to keep this project alive, today we are here thanks to the work and efforts that many and many have done for us for so many years. To all of them: thank you.”
