Rhetoric expert – Chancellor’s speech: “Nehammer lacks a business plan”

Date:

In an interview on krone.tv, communications expert Tatjana Lackner summarizes Chancellor Karl Nehammer’s Austrian planning speech: “Nehammer was once again the consensual type who connects and wants to promote common ground.” And: “It was a speech for his own people. ”

The message of the speech could be summarized as follows: ‘I am a designer, he (by this I mean Herbert Kickl, take note) the splitter.’ But according to Lackner, the content of the speech was not that important: ‘Simply giving subsidies is not really innovative. Nehammer needs to work much harder on his own profile and set clear goals for where Austria should go. It’s like the business plan an entrepreneur must have if he wants to expand his business and invest in the future. Nehammer misses this business plan.”

Overall, Lackner is a testament to the Chancellor’s ability to communicate that his voice carries and that his voice volume is also appropriate. But in general the speech was only for his own people and there was still a lot of room for improvement, especially in terms of content. And Nehammer’s clear focus on ‘He or I’ (i.e. Kickl or Nehammer) seems a bit helpless, precisely because his own substantive program is missing.
