The former mayor of Pamplona plans to speak with the mayor of Tudela, Alejandro Toquero, to include him as vice president for her candidacy, in which she hopes there will be more than one.
Former Pamplona mayor Cristina Ibarrola will run for president of the Unión del Pueblo Navarro (UPN) during the April 28 congress, following the retirement of Javier Esparza, who has led the party for the past eight years.
Ibarrola announced this in an interview Navarre diarywhere she states that her intention is not to run for president of the government of Navarre in 2027, but to try to regain the mayoral office of Pamplona.
Ibarrola was elected mayor of Pamplona in June 2023, but a motion of censure between EH Bildu, PSN, Geroa Bai and Contigo Zurekin removed her from office in December.

UPN will take power after almost nine years without Navarre and will aim in its April congress to renew the party in order to restore the government of Navarrewho has not been able to return to it since he lost it in 2015 despite winning all the provincial elections.
