New data analyzes show that gas imports from Russia in 2021 and 2022 were noticeably more expensive than those from other countries.
NEOS analyzed data from foreign trade statistics and found a significant price increase; in some months Russian gas even cost twice as much. “The ‘cheap Russian gas’ was always a myth and a propaganda lie of Gazprom and its lobbyists,” said NEOS energy spokeswoman Karin Doppelbauer, calling on the federal government to take measures to phase out Russian gas.
