Yesterday, Lehendakari Urkullu signed the decree that was published in the Official Gazette of the Basque Country on Tuesday. The decree opens the 54-day election period. The election campaign starts on April 5 at midnight and ends on April 19 at midnight.
The Official Gazette of the Basque Country (BOPV) has published Decree 7/2024 of February 26 of the Lehendakari, which dissolves the Basque Parliament and calls elections for April 21.
Yesterday, Monday, Lehendakari Iñigo Urkullu signed the decree calling for elections and published on Tuesday.
The decree begins countdown for the April 21 elections, opening the 54-day election period.
According to the election calendar, the Electoral Council will be established on March 1 and political forces will have from March 13 to 18 to present their candidacies. Eight days later they are officially proclaimed. The election campaign starts at midnight on Easter Friday, April 5, and lasts fifteen days, until midnight on the 19th. After the day of reflection, the elections will be held on April 21.
The Basque government will continue its activities as normal until it takes office after April 21.
