The Administrative Court of Pau has dismissed the appeal Seaska has filed against the French Ministry of Education for: Failure to comply with the agreement allowing exams in Basque
The pact was concluded in 2019, but the rector of the Academy of Bordeaux has always refused to implement it, so the Iparralde Federation of Ikastolas decided to go to court.
However, the judge rejected seaside resort claimed that it was not properly registered and therefore failed to address the merits of the case.
The chairman of Seaska, Peio Jorajuriapointed out in Euskadi Irratia that they knew that “dealing with the state would be very complicated” and laments the judge’s lack of courage. “He used a technical glitch as an excuse not to have to decide on the question asked,” he criticized.
Seaska has been claiming the right of students of Ipar Euskal Herria to take exams in Basque for years. In recent months, protests have increased and they also met with the rector of the Academy of Bordeaux.
Seaska discovered that the authorities had no intention of implementing the pact concluded with the French ministry and chose the legal route to achieve her objectives.
