Ukrainian billionaire Vadym Novynskyi is fighting back against reports that he is being portrayed as “pro-Russian”. Instead, he supports humanitarian aid with his assets.
In early March, the “Krone” reported on a Russian-born Ukrainian oligarch and billionaire named Vadym Novynskyi. According to international reports, he is said to have helped finance Putin’s war of aggression. And Ukraine also froze its assets. Novynskyi, who had stayed in Benko’s noble chalet N. last year, now reported false reports to the “Krone”.
“I am deeply affected by the fact that I am portrayed as ‘pro-Russian’. It was the Russians who not only destroyed 8,000 lives in Mariupol, but also all my property there – how could I ever support something like that.” Due to his outstanding services to Ukraine, he was even awarded honorary Ukrainian citizenship. He was also appointed deacon of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
Since the beginning of the Russian invasion, his foundation has devoted its work exclusively to humanitarian aid – in the order of nine figures. These investments would have led to a reduction in his assets. “I never paid a cent to Russia!”
Novynskyi concludes by referring to his statement when the war began: “I am a citizen of Ukraine, I swore an oath as a deputy and will remain faithful to it until the end.”
