As part of the Covid fund, clubs in Lower Austria were recently able to apply for support. An application from the association for vaccination victims around ex-politician and Corona denier Martin Rutter has also been approved. This is now causing a political fight between the parties.
A spokesperson for FPÖ state councilor Christoph Luisser stated on Tuesday that Rutter’s club’s application met the guidelines.
Club invites you to an information event
The website of the Association for Vaccination Victims contains an invitation to an information event on May 5 in Leobendorf (Korneuburg district) and the note: “Our event is supported by the state of Lower Austria.”
“Doctor with experience in vaccination injuries” as speaker
The ‘Lecture for Vaccine Victims and Long Covid Victims’ will feature a ‘doctor with experience in vaccine injury’ and a lawyer as speakers, and support will also be provided with funding applications for the Corona Aid Fund. The chairman of the association is Martin Rutter. The Carinthian ex-politician is seen as an anti-Corona activist and opponent of the measures.
The Association for Vaccination Victims has asked for support for events, but no money has yet been received, Luisser’s spokesman said. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is responsible for the processing. In order to pay out the financing, invoices and proof of payment must be submitted. The spokesperson noted that who is responsible for the association is not an issue in the guidelines.
The Greens are angry
Silvia Moser, member of the state parliament and social spokesperson for the Greens, was angry about the Corona aid to Rutter’s club. “The FPÖ surrounds itself with conspiracy theorists and shamelessly and unscrupulously makes money wherever it can,” she responded. The People’s Party watches paralyzed and finances this activity with state tax money. “State Governor Mikl-Leitner is obliged to stop such financial donations to the right-wing camp,” Moser said.
Based in Carinthia: NEOS demands clarification
NEOS state party leader Indra Collini pointed out that Rutter’s club is based in Carinthia. She therefore called for an immediate review of the approved funding. “The fact that taxpayer money flows from Lower Austria to liberal friends in Carinthia is unacceptable,” Collini emphasized in a broadcast.
The Corona Fund has “clear rules and strict funding criteria” that must be met, explained Franz Dinhobl, member of the state parliament and health spokesperson for the People’s Party. The strict procurement guidelines have worked well so far. “I expect that the responsible state council will continue to ensure that funding is properly allocated in the future,” the ÖVP’s mandate reads.
Covid relief funds have been in existence since summer 2023
The Lower Austrian Covid relief fund for the consequences of corona, launched by Schwarz-Blue, started reimbursing Covid fines in the summer of last year. For example, from September 1, 2023 to the end of February 2025, Lower Austrians can submit applications regarding therapies for psychological problems, long-term Covid damage, study costs and vaccination disorders, i.e. consequences not covered by the vaccine damage Act.
Since March this year, clubs have also been able to submit projects. Organizations that can apply for funding include “those offering services for the purpose of representing the interests of people who have suffered harm or disability as a result of Covid-19 vaccinations or Covid-19 diseases”. According to the information, 27 clubs have applied so far.
