The agreement includes actions to improve pastures, forests, habitats and awareness, as well as the joint investment of approximately 300,000 euros. Furthermore, it creates a framework for negotiating strategic aspects such as the size of the clearing and the financing model.
The Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa and the Commonwealth of Enirio Aralar signed an agreement this Monday to… conservation and management of the Aralar Mountains and its activities. With this agreement, both parties want to strengthen the relationship for the entire legislature.
The agreement includes actions to improve pastures, forests and other habitats, awareness-raising actions, the rehabilitation and construction of slums, the rehabilitation of tracks and the improvement of other infrastructure in the area. The joint investment for this is approximately 300,000 euros; 211,000 by the Provincial Council and 85,000 by the Commonwealth.
This agreement reflects a renewed commitment between both institutions to work together during the 2024-2027 legislature, with the aim of ensuring continuous improvements in this area. Along these lines, the document establishes the need to start a negotiation that will last three months, until July 31, 2024. These meetings will focus at least on three strategic aspects for both parties: the size of the clearing, the routes and the financing model.
This agreement is the result of a working dynamic initiated by representatives of both institutions in the new parliamentary term. In this way, they seek to resume relations that have been blocked since 2019, with the aim of reaching firm agreements that guarantee and commit the improvements that both parties must implement in the area over the next three years. In this sense, both institutions have expressed their satisfaction with the progress made during these months and with the dialogue position they have shown.
The deputy of the Green Territorial Balance, Xabier Arruti, has pointed out that “it is something we owe to the shepherds of Aralar and to society as a whole.” For his part, Adur EzenarroPresident of the Commonwealth Enirio-Aralar, has assured that “the agreement we signed takes a new step on the path of cooperation between the two institutions, and is an incentive to continue taking steps in that direction.”
The signing of this agreement will be submitted to the Commonwealth Board of Directors of Enirio Aralar and, following the dynamics of the Goilarre program of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, it will be shared with the farmers.
