The PNV spokesperson in Congress, Aitor Estebanhas asked the President of the Spanish government, Pedro Sánchez, to “put it in black and white” and clarify what specific measures he proposes for democratic restoration. Regardless, he has warned that there are issues in democracy that “absolutely must be preserved.”
After five days of reflection, Pedro Sánchez announced yesterday that he will continue in office and promised to “work without rest, with determination and with serenity for the upcoming regeneration of our democracy”, albeit without taking concrete measures.
In an interview for the “Boulevard” program on Radio Euskadi, Esteban emphasized that Sánchez “has proposed absolutely nothing, except talking about democratic regeneration.” However, he pointed out that “if there is really a concrete idea,” the PNV is willing to listen and negotiate, “but without dramatization.”
In this sense, he emphasized that freedom of expression and freedom of the press are “very delicate” matters that “must absolutely be preserved”.
On the other hand, Esteban has stated that he assumes that now that the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, is advocating “a complete stop” in which democratic recovery will be promoted, the repeated bill to reform the Official Secrets Act “It will go like a shot.”
