The new city council of Innsbruck is under election winner and future mayor Johannes Anzengruber. After ten days of negotiations, the ‘Now Innsbruck’ list, the Greens and the SPÖ have agreed on a coalition. The content and projects for the next six years have been determined. The division of the departments is also fixed.
The coalition negotiations had been successfully completed, it was said on Thursday, about two and a half weeks after the mayoral elections. This means that at least the personnel agenda will be completed before the first city council meeting on Friday, including the swearing-in of the city manager and the election of the deputy mayor.
No departments for municipal councilors from ÖVP and FPÖ
The coalition members therefore agreed on the outgoing city boss Georg Willi (Greens) and municipal councilor Elisabeth Mayr (SPÖ) for the position of deputy mayor. In the seven-member city senate, only coalition council members will have office or department responsibility. The two municipal councilors of “Neuer Innsbruck” and the FPÖ come away empty-handed.
“The conversations were characterized by mutual appreciation, objectivity and the desire for a trusting collaboration. “We have agreed to work together for a great cause and to do the best for the cause and the people of this city,” Mayor Johannes Anzengruber said in an initial response.
