With his master in the office, Chancellor rehearses with his dog “Fanny” for Sunak’s visit

Date:

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is expected to visit Chancellor Karl Nehammer (ÖVP) in Vienna on Tuesday. The Chancellor himself prepared for the state guest on Monday with truly “animal” support.

As is known, there is hardly anything that the British love as much as dogs and horses – so Chancellor Nehammer immediately rented his Bavarian mountain sweater “Fanny” to try out before the state visit.

The central topic is the asylum problem
Sunak himself is considered a dog lover; the family owns a Labrador from the animal shelter named “Nova”. The four-legged friends will probably only be a secondary aspect of the talks between the heads of state. The emphasis is mainly on the asylum system in the EU and the United Kingdom.

“The only way to really prevent illegal migration, in addition to effective protection of the external borders, is through asylum procedures outside the EU. We must solve the problem at the gates of the EU. This is the only way we can prevent the human suffering that people suffer when they end up in the hands of smugglers,” Nehammer demanded in the run-up to the visit. “Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and I are on the same page here with our clear position.”
