The Central Electoral Committee has decided to extend the period for casting votes by post until next Friday at 2 p.m.
To date, Correos has fulfilled 49,832 requests for postal voting in the Basque Autonomous Community from citizens wishing to exercise their right to vote through this system in the European Parliament elections to be held on June 9.
By area, 28,918 postal votes have been requested in Bizkaia, 14,131 in Gipuzkoa and 6,783 in Álava.
In addition, the Central Electoral Committee has agreed to extend the deadline for depositing votes by post until Friday, June 7, during normal Post Office opening hours, up to a maximum of 2 p.m.
In the Spanish state as a whole, 632,115 requests for postal voting have been received. These figures represent 105.6% more in the state compared to the total number of applications admitted in the European Parliament elections of 25 May 2014 (307,509), the last process through which a similar comparison can be made because it was the last year in which the European elections were held separately, without coinciding with other electoral processes.
