In the current program “Club 3” not only national but also international topics are intensely discussed. Tanja Pfaffeneder’s guests are Christoph Leitl, chairman of the European Movement Austria, political scientist Ralph Schöllhammer and “Krone” journalist Erich Vogl.
The former chairman of the Chamber of Commerce (WKÖ), Christoph Leitl, believes that the young generation has a very positive attitude towards the future, especially with regard to Europe. However, this opinion is not shared by everyone. The political scientist Ralph Schöllhammer takes a much more skeptical position. Schöllhammer points out that many young people struggle with uncertainty and concerns about their future, especially in light of global challenges and social changes.
“We are committing tolerance suicide”
Another much-discussed topic is migration. The case in Mannheim, in which an Islamist murdered a 29-year-old police officer, is sparking renewed debate. The now 25-year-old Afghan came to Germany with his brother in March 2013. His asylum application was rejected at the time. “People have generally missed the asylum and migration policy,” says Krone journalist Erich Vogl. “We are committing tolerance suicide,” adds political scientist Ralph Schöllhammer.
Will there be a third world war?
The conflict between China and Taiwan is increasingly coming into focus. Tensions in East Asia could also have significant consequences for Europe. The question of whether a Third World War is imminent is increasingly being asked given the current global tensions. The world is in a state of emergency. “I fear the storm,” says European Movement president Christoph Leitl.
