The PNV and the PSE-EE continue to negotiate the structure of the new Basque government, after a preliminary programmatic agreement was reached to form a new coalition government. The General Secretary of the PSE-EE, Eneko Anduezahas confirmed that the Socialists will manage four ministries, one more than currently. In any case, he has not disclosed the distribution of the portfolios.
In an interview in Euskadi Irratia, Andueza stressed that they continue to negotiate and that as long as this is the case, they will act “seriously.” Asked about the division of portfolios, he replied that “it is not an auction, not a market, but a negotiation.”
In any case, Andueza has confirmed that the PSE-EE will do so more weight in the new governmentas the Socialists improved their results in votes and seats in the last elections for the Basque Parliament.
On the other hand, he didn’t want to go in “speculations” in the names of future directors. However, he has indicated that he will choose the ‘best’ people per department, without taking into account the territorial balance. Nor has it been made clear whether Denis Itxaso will become director or not.
