The Basque government allocates 6.3 million euros to improve the functioning and economic conditions of the Ertzaintza

Date:

The aim is to improve the functioning and organization of the Ertzaintza and also to improve the working conditions of certain groups, such as officers between the ages of 55 and 60 and those of the Criminal Investigation Unit.

The Basque government will allocate 6.3 million euros to improve the operation and organization of the Ertzaintza and the working conditions of certain groups of the Ertzaintza, such as officers between the ages of 55 and 60 and those belonging to the Criminal Investigation Unit.

At the press conference after the Governing Council, the spokesperson of the acting executive branch, Bingen Zupiria, announced that, on the proposal of the Ministry of Security, an agreement has been approved that changes the working conditions of the staff serving the Ertzaintza.

As he recalled, the last labor agreement regulating the Ertzaintza’s working conditions dates back to 2011, but has undergone specific changes over time and the agreement approved this Tuesday is the fourth to be concluded.

Zupiria has indicated that a series of measures are being introduced aimed at improving the functioning and organization of the Ertzaintza and also improving the working conditions of certain groups of the Basque police. It is specifically aimed at agents who are between 55 and 60 years old and want to modulate their professional activity due to their age.

Likewise, a series of agreements are aimed at the criminal investigation unit where some 1,800 ertzainas work and, as Zupiria has explained, they are seeking to improve their remuneration conditions to ensure “the proper functioning” of this unit.

Third, he specified that this agreement also addresses aspects to promote gender equality and co-responsibility in the care of sons and daughters.
