She did it and set a record: German extreme swimmer Iris Ashmann crossed the entire Lake Constance – a distance of more than 64 kilometers.
German open water specialist Iris Ashman (60), living in Great Britain, reached her destination Bregenz on Monday evening – by sea.
At noon on Monday it rose 40 miles away in Bodman, Germany, and 30 hours later it reached the shores of Lake Vorarlberg. In between there were countless arm slaps and painful constant scratching. Ashman showed perseverance.
Although a woman had previously completed the longitudinal crossing of Lake Constance, according to the new rules for the route, Sandra Albrecht’s feat no longer applies, as wetsuits are not allowed to be worn and food and drinks are only allowed in the water. Breaks on a support boat are also not permitted.
Hard training
Ashman has now stuck to this and achieved a dream for which she trained for three years. After her arrival at the Bregenz management, she was overjoyed.
